Premium tax credits for 2027
The enhanced premium tax credits available from 2021 through 2025 expired at the end of 2025. As of September 13, 2026, Congress had not extended them. Under the underlying law, people with household income above 400% of the federal poverty level generally don't qualify for premium tax credits, and many people who still qualify get less help than before.
- Update your expected 2027 income and household size in your application so your tax credit is calculated correctly.
- Compare the total cost of plans, not just the monthly premium: a lower premium often comes with a higher deductible.
Automatic re-enrollment
If you do nothing, you may be automatically re-enrolled for 2027, sometimes in a different plan if yours is discontinued. Log in, update your information, and compare plans by December 15 if you want a change to start January 1.
Avoid scams and unauthorized changes
- The Marketplace will never threaten you or ask for a credit card payment to keep or qualify for coverage.
